Description

Submersible Pressure Gauge, Thin
4.5 cm face, bar

This popular SPG features a nickel-plated brass housing with a polycarbonate face and a coiled Bourdon tube mechanism.

  • 4.5 cm (1.75 in) face
  • Nickel-plated brass body
  • Impact-resistant polycarbonate face
  • Nitrox-ready
  • Air spool included
  • Made in Italy

Caution: This SPG is popular with tec divers due to its lighter weight and thinner profile (as compared to heavier and bulkier brass-and-glass models). However, at depths beyond 50 m (165 ft) the increased ambient pressure may bend this SPG’s polycarbonate face and push it inwards. While this does not flood or damage the SPG, it may prevent the needle from moving. Obviously, this may affect the SPG’s accuracy.

Once the diver ascends and the ambient pressure decreases, the polycarbonate face returns to its normal curvature and the needle is free to move. Since tec divers typically use this SPG on deco gas cylinders (which are breathed at shallower depths), the potential inaccuracy at depths deeper than 50 m (165 ft) does not usually pose a problem. However, if your dive profile requires accurate gas pressure measurements at depths deeper than 50 m (165 ft), then XR Scuba recommends you use a traditional brass-and-glass gauge.
